I would have to agree with Bert that the Rug Doctor would definitely be the best choice. You can get professional results and the machine is built to last. It is identical to the units that are available for rent in many retail establishments.
In my opinion, it is well worth the extra initial expense.^

Does anyone know how to make the solution for use in a carpet steam cleaner?
I found it once and it used “Tide”, viniger, and water…I think.

Try the vinegar and water solution — just use about 1 cup of undiluted white vinegar to the hot water and then clean away. By not using soap, you’ll actually get your carpets even cleaner, because the soap residue won’t remain in the carpet fibers. When that residue DOES remain, it attracts more dirt like a sponge.
Professional cleaners say that the key ingredient is VERY hot water.

How much is a fair price to pay for having your car’s upholstery and carpet steam cleaned?
If it’s just normal, not like completely trashed.
I really want it cleaned good. The detailers I’ve used before do that dry foam but it doesn’t really get the dirt out.

I Usually pay $ 60.00 for a complete wash of the interior of my car, its a sedan and it’s done at work so I don’t have to botter taking it anywhere. But it depends on what kind of car you have cause the bigger the car, the bigger the price.
Don’t pay more than $ 100.00 even if they advertise to be the best of the best.

Can I use swiffer wet jet solution on carpet, IN my steam vac? Any home made carpet cleaning recipes?
I’m talking about diluting it with water and putting it IN my Hoover Steam Vac. I used Tide laundry detergent one time when I had just run out of carpet shampoo and needed to clean the carpets in a rush (it was probably the night before Thanksgiving as well) and it worked incredibly well.
Any recipes? I don’t have vinegar to add to any recipes right now.

I don’t recommend using detergent to clean the carpets. It leaves a soap residue that actually attracts more dirt. Get some white vinegar($2.50 a gallon). Use plain hot water until you get vinegar.
