Lisa asks…
Can I ever forgive?
When I was a little girl(8yrs old) my mother’s boyfriend(Now her husband) molested me. When my sister and I told my mother she basically accused us of lying. As the year’s went by it happened a few more times. Childrens services got invovled and I was taken away to live with my real dad, he couldn’t take care of me so I went back to my mother. Now I’m 24 years old, and I’ve been through so many changes since then. One bad relationship after the next, I’ve never trusted men. And I’ve always been scared to date older men. My mom and the rest of the family bascially brushed it under the carpet all these years, and so have I. We were told it never happened so don’t talk about it. I have never had a good relationship with my mother, only decent. But I want to get over this pain from my past, and forgive my mother and now step dad. I’m trying to get closer to God so please tell me, how do I forgive a mother I feel didn’t protect me?

Oh wow– I’m amazed at your resilience and your very forgiving nature…. The fact that you– at the relatively tender age of 24– want to have a closeness with God and forgive those who wronged you… Beautiful! You are on the fast track to healing and thriving!
First of all I want to say that I am a Christian, and a former Social Worker (20+ years working in the area of abuse). These are some examples of actions that I have seen women take to achieve the results that you want in your life. Some of the following will work for you, and some will seem weird… Choose what you want and discard the rest:
**Find yourself a good healthy support community. For some people this will mean joining a Church or other group with spiritual direction. Choose carefully. Ask friends or workmates you respect if you can come along with them to their particular church/synegogue, etc., as a guest, maybe. Get a good sense of how people live out their faith…. Are women treated with respect and equality, or treated like they are somehow inferior? Read the Gospels to see how Jesus regarded women. An unhealthy Church community will press women to be meek and submissive and put up with abuse… Will look for women and children to constantly give in and forgive while allowing offenders (and they do exist in church communities) to continue to attend church and receive support. There’s a lot more I could say about this, but I want to assure you that there are tender caring groups of Christians out there who embrace women with your experience of betrayal and pain and who can nurture you in the faith and in love in a way you may never have experienced before. Pray about finding this sort of community. This will help you to have the strength and encouragement to do whatever you need to do to advance your relationship with your Mother… You’ll know what that is. Look for a woman in this community to mentor you.
**I have helped a number of women to break through the negative emotions that block their ability to move from the pain into forgiveness by introducing them to an easily learned and easily applied energy psychology that uses forgiveness as part of the healing protocol. I wish you all the best!

George asks…
apartment mold in texas.?
I have a bad mold problem in my apartment and i can not get my landlord to take care of it. i have verbally requested it as well as sending a letter certified mail return receipt requested. they “inspected” the apartment and found no mold, yet if i walk into my closet there is mold about 1 foot high along the edge of the wall. also there is mold growing in the carpet, and they are now saying that its not mold its animal urine (i don’t even own a pet), and i am responsible for the carpet. it has been about two weeks since i sent the letter and there still has been no resolution.i am in montgomery county texas and i have contacted our health department and they say they don’t deal with it, i also contacted TCEQ and they referred me to health department. and i spoke with the code enforcement here and they said they don’t deal with mold either and to call the tenants counsel in austin, which only services travis county. so i have no idea who to report my apartment to since everywhere i go i get sent somewhere else. so my question is, is there a state agency that protects us or can help us in this? and should i consider suing them, i don’t really want to do that but they are being so unreasonable that it seems to be the only option.
so i have to pay to prove there is mold when it can be seen growing on the wall?
it is not a tenant issue, they are replacing all the piping in the complex and the unit above mine had a pipe burst before they could replace it which ruined my ceiling, covered all my walls in water along with my floor. when they called they told me they could not take care of it because they needed me to move my furniture out even though i was out of the state at the time, so they let my apartment sit for over a week until i got back to do anything, so no it is not a mildew problem

admin answers:
Yes, you have to pay to have the mold tested, to determine if the growth is one of the very few harmful to human health, or if it is plain mildew, which is NOT harmful to humans. If your mold turns out to be plain mildew, that’s a tenant housekeeping issue, and not a landlord problem. You seem to think that anything which appears to be mold is harmful, and is therefore a landlord issue. That’s not the way it works.

Betty asks…
Could i be eligible for moving home decorating/furnishing grant or vouchers??r=1219068376?
For the last six months i have been taking care of my young sibling who is only 7,this was a temporary arrangement agreed by the social services. I have just been informed that this is now permanent as my mother seems unfit. I am happy as i want to give her a better life but I’m not sure I’m getting all the financial help i am entitled too from social services.
Basically I’m a 26 year old girl who had a one bedroom flat and been sharing with my sister, and have now been given a two bed place (for which i am grateful) but i have not got the money to carpet the entire house or too decorate the horrid walls – i work full time but after bills and now being responsible for a child I’m literally left with next to nothing to last a whole month.
Ive heard that the DSS are able to assist, but im not sure if i would be entitled to help as i work? Can anyone help please?
Many Thanks

admin answers:
Im sorry… But the government will not give you money to decorate your house.. They put a rood over you and her head… And thats what they are worried about now about decorating… Why dont you try to save like 5 or 10 bucks a month and hit um some garage sales or the clearence section at walmart..

Richard asks…
I need help with a disrespectful neighbor.?
I have a neighbor who has given us nothing but drama and stress ever since we moved here. Lets start from the beginning:
She has two sons and one eleven month old daughter. She lives downstairs. We live in an old house that was built like in 1920. The house was turned into two apartments.
You would expect some noise, all tenants experience some form of noise from joining apartments, but this is out of control. She slams the doors, her children play with an metal Tonka truck and run it across the bare floors. When she talks to her children she screams. I do think she does not know how to talk without yelling. She is bang on the walls just because she knows it upsets us.
At first, I talked to her about it without getting the landlord involved. I was away for work and my neighbor called me right before a meeting and said that Dava was chatting me all over the neighborhood because I asked her to quiet down. The noise got worse. I emailed my landlord, he came talked to her and the noise got worse. I emailed him again, he talked to her on the phone, she cussed him out and the noise got worse. I called the landlord again and he sent her a warning letter saying that if their was one more complaint against her that she would be evicted. In our lease it states, no noise.
It has not stopped. She is on HUD and during the summer had two families and her brother living in a two bedroom apt. Her house stinks and smells like feces. My other neighbor has smelled it and some of my friends. I have to spray air freshner when I first come in my apt, after I get upstairs I do not smell it. She yells at her kids and says things like I wish I could kill you and get away with it. Her oldest kid got hit by a car and she told him to get up and walk it off and did not get medical care for him. The same son, two weeks ago, came out of the house butt-naked and ran down the street while playing with his penis. We had to call the police. I have turned her in to social service twice. HUD told me it was her word against mine. Social Services have never followed up. I am writing everything down including dates and times. I have even asked my landlord to put carpet in the apt. to adsorb some of the noise. He has not done that.
I forgot to mention that her two oldest boys have mild Autism. Trust me I have taken that into consideration, but slamming the doors, the late night parities, and the abuse needs to stop. Please tell me what else I can do to get those kids in a safe place and for her to leave out of here. I think I have been more than patient for the past seven months.

admin answers:
Ring the police & if they are not helpful to you go above them and ring the complaints section, these numba’s should be in your telephone book.
Then their is always free to air TV, give them a call that should flare some attention.
Forget about the noise this woman should not be a mother & her kids need love & protection.
